Mexicali Blues is truly excellent....
I was walking to my car in the grocery store parking lot today when I suddenly realized I don't think that I commented back to you after finally having the chance to listen to Mexicali Blues. It's so well done! I loved the music choices you made, they were interesting in themselves and very compatible with the story, in my opinion....and I very much liked the ambient sounds of waves you added in as section breaks. As for the reading, I find your voice just so pleasant and engaging to listen to, and it went very well with the mostly interior monologue of Logan, made a kind of meditative sense - though your bits with Max and Dick were quite funny and well executed too. I thought the bit where Logan and Max are on the phone and she's having a sidebar with her boyfriend was great, as well as Dick's appreciative "Dude!" (hard to pull off, I'm thinking, but it was great.) So, anyway, wanted to let you know how much I appreciated you putting more of your good podfic work out there, and glad to have been a small part of that. Oh, and I just rented Fright Night!!!! Am excited to see that, as I always liked Jane E's work on Buffy, and her small bits in the DVD extras were rather hilarious too - I still remember her saying that being a writer for Buffy was her favorite job ever. And, again with the long-windedness, but I just remembered the quote from Joss Whedon about Veronica Mars, how Kristen Bell's performance was so excellent because it had a hole in it - what he was trying to express was the sense of loss underlying that performance no matter what was happening on the surface. That's sort of how I interpret Logan in this podfic of yours - no fractures on the surface but cracked and a bit empty on the inside....thank you!

Re: Mexicali Blues is truly excellent....
Thank you for the lovely feedback! *dances* I'm so glad you like it - I was really happy with how it turned out, but I'm always a little anxious when I release a new podfic into the wild. I'm really happy you won the auction and picked this fic - I had a great time working on it.

I'm glad you commented on the music. I only use it when it really feels right to me, but I can never really tell if it works for other people. I'm really happy to hear my choices for this fic worked for you. And honestly, it was your use of sound effects in the Gloria series that inspired my use of wave sounds here. I'm not sure I would have thought of it otherwise.

I hope you enjoy Fright Night! It may lack the depth of Buffy and Veronica Mars, but I loved it. I can happily nerd out about all the ways in which it comments on society and coming of age for boys and girls and how awesome Amy is (especially considering how passive and weak that character was in the 1985 original)...but I'll spare you. ;P

Thanks again for the wonderful comments!
