| I'll keep this brief because I'd really like to aim this journal (and my fannish existence) squarely towards the land of squee and podficcy goodness, but I feel the need to acknowledge some RL stuff.
I've been on hiatus for most of this year. Fandom is just one part of my life that I stepped away from, but it's probably the part I missed the most. I could feel myself slipping away as far back as November, but I couldn't get enough traction to stop. I stopped making podfic, stopped tweeting, stopped responding to messages, stopped reading my flist. I was mostly silent by mid-January, and completely silent by mid-March. I didn't want to be silent, but I couldn't find my way back.
I've been dealing with some mental health issues, and I'm getting help. I've alluded to some of this stuff in the past and a number of people on my flist have very kindly and generously offered to talk and to listen, and seriously, you cannot know how much those offers meant to me. Thank you so much.
That said, for the next while I'm going shift this space away from my RL issues (good and bad), and try to focus on really getting back into fannish activity. My to-record list is out of control, and the parts of me that have thawed out a little are bursting with squee about Iron Man and Star Trek. I've been with the silence too long. I want to give into the squee.
Thanks for being there. It's good to be back.

| Wow, I have not been around much this year. There are reasons, but whatever. More on that later. I have some podfic to post! Last month I celebrated halfamoon in a couple different ways. Over at audiofemme we hosted our first annual Arm in Arm//Fist to Fist fest, focusing on non-romantic, non-sexual relationships between women, and at the same time the Awesome Ladies Podfic Anthology went into its third year collecting amazing podfics about awesome female characters in fandom. I just finished listening to the whole thing, and it's fantastic. I'm so pleased to have been able to take part in it again. ( Arm in Arm//Fist to FistCollapse )( Awesome Ladies Podfic Anthology IIICollapse ) All of these fics were such a pleasure to record. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did. Please leave feedback for the authors, and while you're at it, I would love some feedback, too! (For the record, I am a big fan of the Kudos button on AO3. Just sayin'.)

| I've been seeing this going around again. 2012 was not a great year for me, and I can totally see that reflected in my podfic output. I didn't record much, and most of what I did record was very short. I began multiple projects that I never finished, including my podficbigbang. I have high hopes for 2013, though.
Okay,here goes:
( 2012 Podfic Year-In-ReviewCollapse )

| fandomaid is hosting an auction to raise funds for areas affected by Hurricane Sandy. Bidding starts immediately, and ends at 4pm CST November 29th. I'm offering one podfic of up to 5000 words, but for a donation of $50 or more I'll raise that limit to 15,000 words. You can find my offer here. This is a podfic-friendly auction, but the language of it is less overtly so than it was for Somalia, or than other similar auctions I've participated in. As such, it's leaning very fic-heavy at the moment. I would really, really love to bid on some podfic - if any other podficcers on my flist are up for it, you should totally consider posting an offer! | |

| HELLO #ITPE PODFICCER! *twirls you* First, this is how I will feel about ANYTHING you choose to record for me: Seriously. I can't wait to hear what you come up with. I'm pretty easy as a podfic listener - I'm multifannish, multishipping, multi...well, multi lots of stuff. I love podfic more than I love any single fandom, pairing, or subgenre. If you'd like some more specific guidance, though, here are my basic preferences for the fandoms I requested, followed by some general likes/dislikes: ( SupernaturalCollapse )( Star TrekCollapse )( Avengers movieverseCollapse )( Terminator: The Sarah Connor ChroniclesCollapse )( FringeCollapse )( Vorkosigan SagaCollapse )( CommunityCollapse )( Parks & RecreationCollapse )( Doctor WhoCollapse )( Harry PotterCollapse )( General PreferencesCollapse )I could say more about what I do and don't like, but I feel like the odds of you choosing something I will like are extremely high, and the odds of you going into something that I can't handle are pretty low. I don't know who you are yet, but I know how awesome the people in podfic fandom are, and I trust your taste. If you like it enough to podfic it, I'm sure I'll love it, too. This is getting...really long. *____* I'm going to stop now. SO EXCITED! | |

| Title: Groundhog DayAuthor: astolatPairing: Sam/Dean Rating: Explicit File Size: 23.1MB Length: 00:25:15 Summary: astolat thinks anything worth doing is worth doing TWICE three times. (especially if the show mostly does it for you.) spoilers for Mystery Spot (3x11) Reader's Note: Recorded for "New Beginnings" challenge at cakehole_club. I'm a sucker for Mystery Spot fic, and this one does everything right for me. This is also the first explicit podfic I've ever done. Seriously. My mom and I have nearly identical reading voices, and hearing the word "cock" in her voice is a little traumatic. That's how much I wanted to podfic this story. So...yeah. Download or stream at box | |

| 1) I'm a procrastinator. Like, a really, really bad one. I know. I'm sorry. 2) I'm hosting a podfic listening party at wincon this year. (I know, that's just over a week away. I'm terrible. Shut up.) I have some podfics in mind that I know I want to include, but I don't want it to just be my taste/my fandoms/etc. If you have any recs, I'd love to hear them! The listening party is only 50 minutes, so in the interest of hearing a diverse range of voices and fandoms, I'm looking primarily at podfics around 5 minutes long, give or take a couple minutes. All fandoms, pairings, and ratings are welcome. If you know of a short podfic that you think represents everything awesome about podfic in general, or a specific reader, or podfic in a particular fandom, please tell me about it in the comments! Self recs are totally welcome. You can also @reply or DM me on Twitter ( nickelmountain) Fandoms I don't listen in very much that I'd especially love some recs for include: Bandom (including AI), Glee, SPN RPF, Teen Wolf, and The Social Network. I also want to make sure to include new favorites and old standbys like the Avengers, Harry Potter, SGA, and (of course) Supernatural. I know where to look & have some ideas in mind for those, but again, diversity rules. When I first submitted the idea to wincon, I thought I'd be all organized and on top of things (stop laughing), and that I'd try to model it after the vid party - which meant including one or two premieres. Now there's obviously not nearly enough time to ask someone to record something brand new for next week, but, that said...if you are interested in premiering a short podfic at the podfic listening party, just let me know. Thanks for your help! | |

| Hey! So it looks like my mail dot com account has been eating emails coming in and out of my account for I don't even know how long. If you emailed me and never heard back, I'm really, really sorry. I don't *think* it was my fault. (I mean, it might have been. It could happen, I guess. But I'm usually pretty good about getting back to people.)
My new fandom email address is as follows: reseuneone (at) gmail (dot) com.
That's a Cyteen reference, btw. Someone already had nickelmountain and nickel.mountain. Guess I'm not the only John Gardner fan out there. (But do those other nickelmountains listen to Wincest and/or femslash on the bus? I DOUBT IT.)

| It's official. My last class was three weeks ago, my last assignment was turned in two weeks ago, and I walked in my commencement ceremony way back in the beginning of June, but now I'm actually, finally, really and truly done. My final grades are posted. I have a Master's degree. *blinks* I applied to grad school and delurked on LJ at the same time. I have to give a HUGE thank you to fandom in general and my flisties in particular for helping me survive the last two years. You all are amazing. A special shout-out goes to nwhepcat for having me out to her place at the end of every semester for decompression, fangirling, and some really excellent food. <3<3<3 I have more thoughts, but no time right now. I just wanted to share the news and say thank you. You all are the best. *smishes you* | |
